Seventeen-year-old Dreiton Rithnen watched his mother die on a sky-port tarmac, a black dagger pressed into his grip — his father's dagger, forged on the Aethian homeworld, the token of a bargain struck before he was born. The invasion was swift. The shields fell. The cities burned.

He trained. He fought. He became a Star Paladin. And then the Aethians came for him again — because the invasion wasn't just an attack. It was a harvest. And Dreiton was the prize.

Captured and taken to Lorthos — a planet more machine than earth — Dreiton discovers his father bargained him away seventeen years ago.
